Abstract

This study showed that membrane bioreactors (MBRs) deliver consistent, high-quality treated effluent suitable for reuse or as feed to more advanced treatment. When compared with conventional activated sludge, MBRs were shown to produce water of superior quality with greater efficiency. Although there is still a lot to learn, MBRs show great potential as a treatment option able to produce high-quality effluent suitable for reuse or as a feed to more advanced treatment. This study highlighted the need for proper design, operation and maintenance. Published by WERF. Soft Cover.
