Abstract

There is much research on the occurrence, treatment, and ecological and human health risks of constituents of emerging concern (CECs); however, many water sector professionals are seeking a stronger understanding of how to monitor and assess CECs, and how to communicate with their customers about CECs. This project provides a framework for communicating what is known about CECs and their risks relative to other stressors, what the current uncertainties are, and what the critical information gaps are that deserve attention from the research community. Taking a One Water approach, a technical brief, three fact sheets, and a storymap were developed. The technical brief and fact sheets can be found below under Resources, and the storymap can be accessed at https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/be6f88f1cc094810869e11f17f9fdc24. Published in 2021.
