Abstract

Through a literature review, case studies, and experimentation, this project will identify treatment processes that can provide some "averaging" with respect to potential chemical peaks, particularly for chemicals that have the potential to persist through advanced water treatment for direct potable reuse. Averaging can take the form of a treatment process that causes the removal or transformation of a contaminant, or it can be a blending or dilution scheme to reduce chemical peaks to background levels.
