Abstract

This project developed and demonstrated the use of competency models to help water utilities define and plan for the skills, abilities, and resource requirements needed now and in the future. Twelve models were developed for critical positions in the water field. The report describes how the models were developed, how they can be used in water utilities, and the process for creating additional models. The Web Tool allows users to download the competency models and other material from the report. The products were originally published in 2012 and updated with six additional competency models in 2013.

As of February 2021, the Water Utility Workforce Needs tool is no longer available. For questions, please contact us.
