SWB DPR Research Webcast Part 1: Pathogens

Webcast
Description

This is the first event in a two-part webcast series that will showcase the research outcomes of WRF’s first California State Water Board (SWB) Grant.

This webcast, held in cooperation with SWB and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD), focused on two of the projects funded under the grant: Pathogen Monitoring in Untreated Wastewater (4989) and Tools to Evaluate Quantitative Microbial Risk and Plant Performance/Reliability (4951). Attendees heard opening remarks from Dr. Peter Grevatt (WRF), Deven Upadhyay (MWD), and E. Joaquin Esquivel (SWB), celebrating the culmination of this grant which aided the SWB Division of Drinking Water in the development of draft criteria for direct potable reuse (DPR). The project team shared findings and demonstrated the risk assessment/plant performance tool (called DPRisk) which will allow utilities to assess risk based on treatment selection and performance. Attendees also heard from the SWB Division of Drinking Water on the importance of this research and how it is contributing to their draft regulations.
