Abstract
This research investigated the stabilization of mainstream (or main plant) nitritation and denitritation performance through a parallel path of fundamental research (bench-scale testing) and full-scale validation. By building on almost 10 years of main plant nitritation/denitritation operational experience, the study focused on resolving the identified specific underlying issues, both theoretical and practical, that have hampered consistent nitritation performance and the translation of the mainstream nitritation/denitritation process to other facilities.
