Partial Denitrification Anammox as Alternative Pathway to Achieve Mainstream Short-Cut Nitrogen Removal
Abstract
Mainstream short-cut nitrogen removal and mainstream deammonification offer opportunities for sustainable wastewater treatment, energy neutral facilities, and reductions in treatment costs. The goal of this project is to advance the understanding as to how mainstream deammonification can be accomplished without relying on extensive nitrite oxidizing bacteria out-selection and by selecting for partial denitrification either in pre-anoxic or in post-anoxic zones or reactors.
