Four Steps to Effective Cyanotoxin Communications: A Risk Communications Toolkit
Abstract
This project provides materials, templates, and tools for utilities, regulatory agencies, and water professionals to better communicate about the risks associated with cyanotoxins in drinking water supplies. The research team leveraged interviews with utilities and a digital engagement platform with a broad range of stakeholders to create user-centered, compelling, and informative messages. The research built upon previous communications research, tools, and resources developed by the Water Research Foundation (WRF), the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), EPA, state regulatory agencies and others.
