Abstract

This project investigated the nature of potential precursors for HNM formation and monitored the occurrence of HNM and I-THM in selected drinking water and municipal wastewater treatment plant effluents. The research also examined the influence of several important parameters on the formation of HNM and I-THM such as the role of ozonation, pH, nitrite, bromide, the potential use of alternative oxidants, and the lag time between chlorine and ammonia addition during chloramination.
