Characterizing the Microbial Community Responsible for Nitrification

Abstract

This project identified and characterized the microorganisms in distribution systems that are responsible for nitrification. The project documented methods suitable for the identification of nitrifiers so that other utilities and researchers can conduct similar studies and further develop monitoring and control strategies to better manage nitrification episodes. Published in 2013.
