Abstract

On May 29-30, 2014, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission partnered with representatives from state and municipal agencies across North America to discuss onsite water treatment systems for non-potable purposes at the Innovation in Urban Water Systems meeting. The purpose was to discuss the barriers, opportunities, and research needs for onsite water treatment systems for applications such as toilet flushing and irrigation. To continue the momentum from the May 2014 meeting, a Blueprint for Onsite Water Systems was developed that serves as a how-to-guide for communities interested in implementing an onsite water treatment program. Research partners: San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF project SIWM7W14). Published in 2014.
