Abstract

Monitoring of critical assets can provide an early warning of possible failure, allowing for early intervention and avoiding or mitigating impacts on customer service. There are various condition and performance monitoring techniques (CPMTs) available for this purpose; however, there is a need for guidance on selecting the most appropriate CPMTs for specific situations. This project developed and demonstrated a process for CPMT selection, taking into account the applicability of different CPMTs to different types of assets, and their costs and benefits.
