Abstract

Summarizes the state-of-knowledge regarding dissolution rates of lead corrosion products. Also assesses the effect of changes in water chemistry on lead concentrations in distribution systems by (1) quantitatively developing rate equations for the dissolution of three important corrosion products that can control dissolved lead concentrations in distribution, and (2) evaluating the applicability of these rate equations to lead release from actual pipe scales.
