Abstract

The goal of this research was to aid water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs) move toward “net-zero” energy use through practices and technologies in the areas of energy conservation, demand reduction, and enhanced production. Researchers advanced the understanding of sustainable solids management through use of a triple bottom line (TBL) analysis to inform decisions on long-term sustainability of common processes for solids management that are amenable to energy recovery.
