Abstract

This online tool and CD-ROM software, helps facilitize minimize operations and maintenance costs, is a major issue for managers of wastewater treatment operations. The purpose of this toolkit is to supply the wastewater industry with a practical "how-to" guide to current approaches and methods of improving plant performance and reducing service costs. Based on input from over 60 utilities, it features a searchable database of traditional and innovative practices that can reduce costs, improve performance, and increase effectiveness. The toolkit includes more than 50 case studies that document in detail how utilities have implemented these different practices. In addition, it includes case studies on: credit card procurement programs; implementing a computerized maintenance management system; and enhancing process control with on-line instrumentation.
