Abstract

This report provides a comprehensive review of existing residential and commercial source reduction programs that will serve as a valuable resource for use by municipalities and other water quality management professionals. The project team gathered information from around the country on wastewater and stormwater pollution prevention and public education programs that have been developed to address non-industrial sources. Also described are monitoring studies conducted to identify wastewater and stormwater pollutants and their sources. The report covers best management practices and program ideas for specific sources of pollutants. Public education programs and efforts to measure program effectiveness are also discussed.
