Abstract

Due to growing population and water scarcity, potable reuse is becoming a critical component of water supplies. It requires effective treatment and stringent monitoring to mitigate exposure to chemical and biological constituents of concern. The current potable reuse applications employ reverse osmosis (RO) and advanced oxidation process (AOP), which may not always be successful in detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

This project aims to implement a real-time VOC analyzer to detect specific VOCs at low detection limits (ppb/ppt) before and/or after treatment for RO-based potable reuse applications.
