Abstract

This report provides a road map to the assessment, analysis, program development, method selection and legal and financial implementation that will make it an easier task to decide how to implement lateral rehabilitation within an overall wastewater system rehabilitation strategy. It is intended to provide a clear understanding of problems and relevant issues, and explain available options for inspection, evaluation and repair of sewer laterals, and address the financing and legal issues that affect how the work can be carried out. With this understanding, it is hoped that directors of public works agencies, city engineers, general managers, planners, financial managers, etc. will be able to formulate a sound course of action of how to manage problems with sewer laterals in their community.
