Managing Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP) to Extend Asset Life
This project will update and expand upon project 4034 by quantifying the impact of condition assessment programs and technology implementation on failure/deterioration rates of prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP); collecting successful transmission main program approaches as a road map for large diameter, linear asset management programs; and reviewing lessons learned from PCCP management to determine applicability to large diameter pipe constructed with other pipe materials. A methodology will be developed to monetize failures to inform a decision-making framework for inspection, monitoring, and rehabilitation efforts. In addition, a guidance document will be created to enable utility managers to determine best practices for managing their large diameter pressure pipe inventory.
