Abstract

The research surveyed and reported on best practices used by a select group of western water districts, utilities, and hydroelectric companies (owner/operators) to maintain public safety around open water conveyance facilities such as canals, flumes, siphons, and non-dam-related spillways. Best practices were defined as measures that an owner/operator believes are most effective in protecting public safety around these facilities. Facilitated research partner: Contra Costa Water District. Published in 2013.
