Abstract

Advances the science of biological perchlorate and nitrate destruction in ion-exchange concentrate by characterizing biodegradation parameters to improve perchlorate/nitrate destruction rates. Evaluates mechanisms to generate and retain biomass. Demonstrates recycle and reuse of biologically treated brine and assesses its potential impact on distribution system water quality.
