Abstract

This research examines the fundamental behavior of the membrane aerated biofilm reactor (MABR).
The researchers sought to better characterize fluxes for COD removal and nitrification; to better understand the effects of gas back-diffusion on process performance; to study the mechanisms of void formation in MABRs; and to carry out preliminary assessments of MABR performance at the pilot scale.
