Abstract

Evaluates GAC preloaded with citrate-iron or EDTA-iron for removing arsenic from drinking water down to 10 ppb or less. Tailors the bed to operate at pH values that can be altered slightly (e.g., pH 6 - 8.5) and accommodate either As(v) or As(III). Tests the competitive arsenic adsorption capacity via rapid small-scale column tests for a variety of water quality conditions. Phase II (#4158) further develops and demonstrate the performance of iron-tailored activated carbon coupled with zero-valent iron for arsenic removal. Research partner: AWTP. Published in 2010.
