Abstract

Validates proof-of-concept for iron enriched granular activated carbon (iron-GAC and aerogel-GAC) as a viable adsorbent for removing arsenic from groundwater. Phase I (#3079) was published in 2006 as Aerogel & Metal-Oxide Impregnated Granular Activated Carbon Media for Arsenic Removal. Phase II (#4058) further develops and demonstrates the performance of iron- and titanium-impregnated GACs for arsenic and organic contaminant removal. Research partner: AWTP.
