Research Impact

This report details a study plan to test the relationship between whole effluent toxicity (WET) test results and biological conditions in receiving streams. The project team developed a study plan that will (1) identify effluent conditions and WET endpoints for which WET results predict field biological results, (2) identify any underlying disparities between WET results and instream conditions, and (3) identify and characterize uncertainties associated with WET testing and biological assessments. This report lays out plans for a pilot study that researchers will undertake in a follow-up project. The pilot study’s results will answer technique design questions, and will ultimately determine the most appropriate design for a definitive study. Published by WERF. 96 pages. Soft cover.
