Optimizing Filter Operation in an Ozone-Biofiltration Plant to Reduce Selection for Opportunistic Pathogens in Drinking Water Production
Reporting Period: March 2, 2018 – September 1, 2018
During the reporting period, several activities to achieve the objectives have been carried out, including extensive sampling of full-scale biologically active carbon filters under normal and experimental conditions, rehabilitation of pilot-scale filters, and testing of the pilot-scale filters to establish baseline conditions before the experimental stage. Initial results show that, for the filters containing carbon that had been in use for periods between 1-3 years, the DOC removal decreased slightly in winter.
