Research Impact

An expert panel of water utility representatives and their regulating partners convened in early 2014 to (1) discuss the Surface Water Treatment Rules (Rules) and source water protection activities (referred to as watershed controls in the Rules) that can be used to meet the requirements of the Rules and (2) develop a framework to evaluate the performance of those source water protection activities. Two project papers were developed for this research: (1) a summary of the workshop discussions and ideas for developing an evaluation framework and (2) a preliminary framework to evaluate source water protection activities based upon the 1999 CDC Public Health Program Evaluation guidance and using the AWWA G-300 Source Water Protection Standard guidance document. The papers are available under Project Resource/Project Papers.
