Abstract
The goal of this project was to establish a standard protocol for measuring mass transfer rates in IFAS and MBBR systems. Data from this protocol was used to calibrate a simple model that describes the mass transfer within moving media. The model could be used by engineers, researchers, vendors, and others to minimize process design uncertainty and provide plant owners more transparency in the comparison of alternative media systems.
