Abstract

This project developed guidelines for water and desalination engineers to help them (1) properly specify the type of stainless steel used for different applications based upon water quality considerations, (2) properly specify construction standards that should be followed to help promote materials useful life in excess of 20 years, and (3) identify appropriate operating conditions such that stainless steel corrosion can be avoided to the greatest extent possible.
