Abstract

Studies the interactions between natural organic matter, calcium, particles, and coagulants to enhance the removal of total organic carbon. Determines the mechanisms of calcium-enhanced adsorption of NOM onto particles, and the effect of calcium addition on TOC removal and coagulant demand. Also examines coagulant schemes to enhance removal of Ca-NOM complexes prior to filtration. Published in 2000.
