Abstract

Evaluates the effect of enhanced and optimized coagulation on particulate and microbial removal. Includes bench-scale studies on 18 waters corresponding to the USEPA TOC - alkalinity matrix and removal of protozoan cysts and oocysts, viruses, enteric bacteria, spores, and bacteriophage. Reports on larger scale testing using similar parameters and develops operational guidelines for utility application. Ended in 2001. A report of partial findings is now available.
