Abstract

The primary objective of this investigation was to generate guidance to enable more accurate and defensible evaluations of stormwater microorganism data and the associated risks to human health from exposure to pathogenic microorganisms (i.e., pathogens) in stormwater. The project was designed to help public agencies begin to understand how to answer questions such as: which pathogens are present in stormwater; what are the potential health risks associated with exposure to these pathogens; what are the sources of pathogens in stormwater; and what can be done to manage the potential health risks?
