Abstract

This research improves the assessment of viral pathogen risk by demonstrating the use of Torque Teno (TT) virus as an appropriate viral pathogen indicator. The project developed a reliable TT virus assay, assessed the density and occurrence of TT virus in feces and source water, evaluated TT virus behavior through drinking water treatment unit processes, and compared these data for coliforms, coliphages, and enteroviruses.
