Research Impact

This project determined the occurrence of nitrosamines in over 30 water treatment plants in the United States and Canada, representing different treatment/disinfection processes that may control nitrosamine formation. The information produced from this project can be used by the EPA and the drinking water community to further understand why nitrosamines occur at high or low levels and important factors that impact their formation. In addition, an article focused on this project was published in the June 2017 issue of Journal AWWA. The article is posted below under Project Papers.
