Water Utility Research Community Workshop
Water Utility Research Community Workshop
October 22-23, 2025
Southern Nevada Water Authority
Henderson, NV
Registration is required and seating is limited.
The purpose of this workshop is to foster a community and facilitate the exchange of information among utilities with research programs. The workshop will build on a previous project, Framework for the Development of a Utility Research Program (WRF #5166). Specific objectives include:
- Sharing best practices and organizational information for managing and communicating research;
- Learning about research interests and ongoing or planned research activities by other utilities; and
- Building relationships and networks to support research collaboration and partnership opportunities.
Many utilities have successful research programs from which others could learn, and a previous project, Framework for the Development of a Utility Research Program (WRF #5166), convened a workshop with representatives of successful programs to discuss their research mission, drivers, organization, funding, prioritization, and communication practices. This workshop will build upon the success of this prior workshop to further share research program best practices, interests, capabilities, and activities.
The agenda will include an overview of Southern Nevada Water Authority's research program, discussion of the value of research, how utilities measure success, and lessons learned, followed by a utility showcase, where attendees are invited to give brief presentations of their own programs and research. Optional tours of SNWA's facilities will be offered as well as networking opportunities. A high-level agenda is linked above, to be refined based upon results of the survey completed by attendees at registration.
