Uses both the PCR technique and traditional tissue culture methods. Also assesses a low-volume PCR method. Research partner: USEPA. Completed in 2000. Published as "A Strategy for Detection of Viruses in Groundwater by PCR" in Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 65(2):444 - 449, 1999.
