Evaluates the application of an integrated cell culture-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methodology to rapidly detect infectious viruses in groundwater. Includes optimization of the integrated technique for specific detection of human enteric viruses and a study of the effects of various disinfectants on molecular, cultural, and integrated detection techniques.
