Project Objective

Experiences gained through Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm (MOEA) rival problem formulation will be captured to inform future utility planning processes as MOEA use continues gaining wider adoption. Case studies will be developed to further explore and demonstrate how utilities can use MOEA tools in different planning contexts to help assess system trade-offs for water utility planning. Rival problem formulations (i.e., different ways that objective functions, decision variables, and modeling constraints can be investigated) and associated impacts to decision-making processes will be documented.
