Modeling Irrigation from Urban Growth in a Semi-Arid Metropolitan Area

This project will model future landscape irrigation in Denver, Colorado, and a neighboring plains jurisdiction. It will determine how irrigation is likely to be impacted by urban growth, climate change, water efficient irrigation technology, and land use policies or design guidelines. This project will utilize the outputs of the Denver Regional Council of Governments UrbanSim growth model as the main input to predict future water use. It will also use existing ancillary data sets such as parcel boundaries, high resolution land cover, customer water use data, a city tree inventory, and local weather data.
