Abstract

This project will determine the feasibility of measuring pathogen concentrations in California wastewater during community outbreak events. Further investigation of this question may be critical to characterizing the highest levels of pathogens expected in untreated wastewater in CA. The effort will involve in-depth literature reviews of sewage monitoring studies and of seasonal and spatial trends of enteric pathogen outbreaks in California. Research partner: California State Water Resources Control Board.
