AvN is an aeration control strategy that allows for the lowest effluent total nitrogen at the lowest total energy input based on the facility’s influent C:N ratio.
What are the benefits to implementing your technology?
The technology is simple to implement and can be retrofitted to any activated sludge process with the addition of a few instrumentation and controls components.
Has the technology been tested, demonstrated, or implemented anywhere to date?
To date, the technology is being operated at two full-scale facilities: one facility in the U.S. (HRSD) and one facility in Austria (AIZ Strass).
What are some of the next steps needed to advance the technology?
The next critical step is to develop a module that allows for seamless communication with existing SCADA systems – Plug & Play.
LIFT has provided AvN with a platform to reach a wider audience. The technology is an example of “cutting edge”; however, as it is only a control modification, minimal infrastructure is required. This fact needs to be communicated so water resource recovery facilities understand that this technology can be simply turned “on or off” and does not require a major capital improvement project for implementation.Daniel DairVP of InnovationWorld Water Works
