Water supply community leaders help set our research agenda and oversee our projects. More than 750 volunteers serve on our board, councils, and committees, lending industry perspective and providing research expertise. There are many ways you can participate. Learn more below.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES (Board)
Board members are subscribers and leaders in the water supply community who represent water utilities around the world. These appointed trustees represent the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC), and the American Water Works Association (AWWA), others from the drinking water community, and one representative from the international water supply community.

RESEARCH ADVISORY COUNCIL (RAC)
Members are selected by the Board-appointed RAC chair. This council is charged with developing and presenting recommended research to the Board.

PUBLIC COUNCIL ON DRINKING WATER RESEARCH (Council)
The Council’s 12 members are non-utility leaders who are appointed by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators, and our Board.

Advises our Board on social issues affecting drinking water.

Lends a public eye to our policies and programs.
PROJECT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (PAC)
We assign PACs for every research project our Board approves based on members’ related research experience.

Reviews and approves the final project report.

Reviews and refines requests for proposals.

Reviews submitted proposals.

Selects solicited research projects.
TAILORED COLLABORATION REVIEW COMMITTEE (TCRC)
The Board appoints five members to screen proposals from subscribers to receive matching funds from the Foundation. The program allows us to leverage funding and address issues of regional or specialized importance.

Reviews and approves funding for projects submitted by subscribers based upon Foundation goals and objectives and input from technical reviewers.
CLIMATE CHANGE STRATEGIC INITIATIVE EXPERT PANEL (C2SI)
Our Foundation appoints a volunteer climate change expert panel who helps direct the Climate Change Strategic Initiative during their three-year term.

DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM WATER QUALITY (DSWQ) EXPERT PANEL
Our Foundation assembles a panel of experts who provide direction for the DSWQ Strategic Initiative during their three-year term.
