Climate Change Strategic Initiative

Climate change is presenting profound challenges to the water supply industry, and our subscribers must understand its effect on water quality, quantity, and the hydrologic cycle.
In response, the Foundation established the Climate Change Clearinghouse Website to share:

• Climate change science relevant to water utilities.
• Impacts climate change can have on water resources.
• Guidance on planning and adaptation strategies.
• Our related climate change studies.

We also created this strategic initiative to integrate research in hopes of achieving specific long-term goals. 
Projects funded by the program were intended to fill one or more of the following objectives:

• Enhance and improve water industry awareness of climate change issues and impacts.
• Provide utilities with tools to identify and assess their vulnerabilities, and to develop effective adaptation strategies.
• Help utilities assess and minimize their carbon footprint.
• Communicate related information to industry stakeholders.

An expert volunteer panel provided oversight for the program.
